How to Create an Adobe Signature

Signing a PDF digitally has become a necessity for many, especially in professional settings. Here’s a step-by-step guide to signing a PDF document or form using Adobe Acrobat’s Fill & Sign tool.

Step 1: Open Your Document

• Open the PDF document or form you want to sign.

Step 2: Access the Fill & Sign Tool

• Click the Sign icon in the toolbar.

• Alternatively, navigate to Tools > Fill & Sign.

Step 3: Choose to Sign or Request a Signature

• Once the Fill & Sign tool is open, choose whether you want to sign the document yourself or request e-signatures from others.

Step 4: Fill in Form Fields (Optional)

• Acrobat will automatically detect form fields.

• Hover over a field to display a blue box. Click inside the box to start typing and fill out the field.

Step 5: Select Your Preferred Color for Filling Out the Form

• By default, your signature color will be black.

• To choose another color, click the Color button in the Fill & Sign menu.

• If you want the signature to retain its original color, make sure the Retain Original Color for Signature option is unchecked.

Step 6: Add Your Signature or Initials

• Click the Sign icon in the toolbar.

• Choose whether to add your signature or initials.

If You Already Have a Saved Signature or Initials

• Select your saved signature/initials from the Sign options, then click where you want to place it in the document.

If You Are Signing for the First Time

• You’ll see the Signature or Initials panel with the following options:

  • Type: Enter your name in the field. You can choose from several signature styles by clicking Change Style.

  • Draw: Draw your signature in the field using your mouse or touchpad.

  • Image: Upload an image of your signature.

  • Save Signature: Check this box to save your signature securely in Adobe Document Cloud for future use.

Step 7: Place the Signature in Your Document

• After selecting your signature type, click Apply and position your signature in the document.

• To adjust the signature: Click on it and use the arrow keys to move it. Resize or delete it using the options in the field toolbar.
